Gorgeous George Finally Says ‘I Do’ (And we promise we’re happy for him…)
October 7, 2014
Well, it happened! The most eligible bachelor in the world has broken a million hearts by finally getting wed to stunning lawyer Amal Alamuddin, in what has been one of the most highly-anticipated celebrity ceremonies of recent years – and with best friend Brad Pitt’s wedding only weeks ago, we imagine George’s to be just as spectacular.
George Clooney first sent hearts fluttering as dishy doctor Doug Ross on US hospital drama E.R. Like his character on the show, George was gorgeous, charming and hard to get. His reputation as a ladies man went from strength to strength as he neglected settling down in favour of a somewhat playboy lifestyle. In spite of many long-term relationships, marriage never appeared to be on the cards for the TV-turned-Hollywood superstar, until beautiful human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin stepped into his life. The unbelievably gorgeous Amal is British-Lebanese and combines an exotic glamour with intelligence making it little wonder George decided to put a ring on it!
The event has been a hot topic amongst the press as the intimate details have been kept firmly under wraps. It was held Saturday 27th September in Venice at the luxury Aman Grande Canal resort which enjoys a seven-star reputation. George’s desperation to keep the ceremony a secret resulted in some clever ideas to thwart hackers who may be looking for photos; he gave guests strict instructions when it came to smartphones, opting to give each guest a disposable phone, on which any photos could only be accessed by George’s team. However, some details have slowly began to emerge as the couple start to enjoy married life together. It has been revealed that a nervous George exchanged vows with Amal at 8:18pm and enjoyed sounds from a trio of musicians. Guests dined on lemon risotto with lobster, sea bass and steak in an extravagant five-star meal. Amal’s wedding dress was a gorgeous off-the-shoulder gown by Oscar de la Renta with a cream colouring and lace detail turning Amal into every inch the sophisticated glamorous bride we expected.
With such a high profile couple comes high profile guests, although best friend and newly-married Brad Pitt was not spotted arriving at the Aman Grande Canal Resort. If Brad was there, he kept the secret incredibly well, although that did not stop Venice becoming a hive of celeb excitement, with limousines a regular occurrence outside the resort. Reported guests include Matt Damon – one of George’s close friends from the movie Ocean’s 11 – Bill Murray, Emily Blunt and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Venice-based journalists appeared none too pleased at the furore caused by the rather grand wedding, perhaps due to the focus of attention on the relatively small city. However, as with any celebrity wedding, adoration and inspiration can be taken from the event.
We are (almost) happy to wish George and Amal a very happy life together!
