The best men’s wedding trends to look out for in 2016.
February 22, 2016
It’s the day that they have planning since they were a little girl and every detail has been meticulously planned so the magical day goes off without a hitch. There are also always plenty of articles on how the bride should go about their big day and the trends that go with being a bride change almost on a daily basis.
But what about the groom and groomsmen, is everything concerning the groom on his big considered not as important? In a way… Yes! But that doesn’t mean they can’t put their own unique little twists on the big day too! From mismatching pocket squares to stationary gifts for the best man. 2016 will see the rise of men’s wedding trends, and below you will find some of the best.
Change of colour
The groom and his groomsmen will be mixing up the colour palate when it comes to clothing. Forget the traditional wedding suite of black, grey and blue and think warm spice colours such as masala brown or a deep burgundy. For those sticking to tradition suit colours, think of adding a splash of colour to your pocket square, socks or braces.
Forget hip flasks, 2016 is the year that gifts take on an advanced foodie vibe! It seems more men are taking to the kitchen to show off their hard honed skills, or they have just watched Heston Blumnethal get experimental on the TV. Think of treating your groomsmen to a weekend course on fine culinary or if they have the skill, make each of them a hamper with fine ingredients and a new knife set! At the very worst they may get some extra brownie points from the other half!
Mix and Match
2016 will see the groom choose a complete or partially different look from his best man and friends. Think of wearing a different colour suit, or the only one to wear a jacket or even a different waistcoat, with the mix and match style, the groom and his party can contrast with textures, colours and patterns.
BBQ is now making its way into restaurants with its American influence being seen in almost every city in the country. Forget burnt sausages and think slow smoked beef brisket with all the trimmings such as cornbread and pulled pork. Food trucks have gained in popularity over the last year, and 2016 will see the delicious grilled selections of meats storm its way into wedding venues across the UK.
It seems the Downton Abbey craze can’t escape the groom and groomsmen either. Think of tweed, plaid and herringbone fabrics whilst walking through your historical wedding venue, with some parties even digging out family wedding photos from the past and trying to recreate their style!
There are many different ways you can add your own personality to your big day, just make sure you and the groomsmen don’t get caught out in any unsuspecting downpours by visiting Jolly Brolly for a fantastic and stylish range of mens umbrellas, suitable for any occasion.
