First Dance Delights: A Wedding Dance To Remember
July 2, 2014
It’s impossible to own a wedding-related blog and NOT post about songs of choice for that first dance as a newlywed couple. Therefore we’ve duly followed suit – albeit with a teary eye or two. From the old to the new, check out some of our favourites.
Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight
A golden oldie in all senses of the world, we’d be lying if we didn’t get a bit smushy (and make up adjectives) when we hear this. Forget the bride and groom, this ballad will have the entire congregation feeling “wonderful tonight”.
Bruno Mars – Marry Me
Say it like you mean it! Where is the rule that says first dance songs need to be slow, deep and meaningful ballads? We love the upbeat tone of this; a modern masterpiece by a modern-day legend with an incredible voice – you won’t need to search too deeply for the meaning of this tune either!
Aerosmith – I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing
If it’s good enough for Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck then it’s good enough for us! Who could forget one of the most epic movies of all time, Armageddon? This song exudes a fresh power with each listen, and we love the raw emotion.
Bryan Adams – (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
Another classic song, the opening melody of this melts the heart everytime. They say the secret to a good song is when it sounds like it’s been written specifically for each individual when they listen to it, and this is no exception. Nice one Bryan!
John Legend – All Of Me
My, my aren’t we up to date? We’ve got a 2014 smash hit in this list. The video to this song (although not particularly original) represents it beautifully. Listen to the lyrics and you can see exactly why this is becoming such a popular first dance decision for couples.
Lady Gaga – Poker Face
Yes. This happened. One couple chose this tune for their first dance…and yes, they did memorise the dance moves. Each to their own!
A simple Google search will give you thousands upon thousands of classic, old, new and eclectic choices for your first dance wedding song. Are you lucky enough to be getting married? Have a good song in mind? Let us know.
