How To Keep The Kids Entertained This Summer

It’s that time of year again and the summer holidays seem to roll round quicker each year. 6 weeks of trying keep your kids amused which can be daunting for any parent especially when activities cost so much. To help you out we have come up with some ideas to keep everyone in the family happy without having to spend a fortune.

Getting Out and About

Over the school break there might be lots going on in your local area that all the family are able to enjoy. Check websites for your local area often your local councils and Tourist Information are a good place to start. A lot of libraries often hold events such as arts and crafts days but even just a trip to the library should be able to keep the kids busy for a few hours with plenty of books and computers.

Other tops places to check out, local swimming pools, museums and galleries and even the local leisure centre where there are plenty of indoor sports and activities that they can participate in.

Staying at Home

Of course there are going to some days where you will find yourselves at home, but this doesn't mean you need to be bored. Take the opportunity to spend some time playing a game or arrange a movie day, that not take your fancy try some of these activities.

Get Cooking, pick a fun recipe, shop for the ingredients and cook or bake something together. Depending of the children's age and interest this could be anything from fairy cakes to a mushroom stroganoff.

Encourage the kids to put on a play or puppet show, build den and if the weather is ok could even risk it outside, grab together old boxes, cushions, blanket and just use your imagination.

The Great Outdoors

When the sun decides to make an appearance it's great for simple activities like picnics and ball games. Treasure hunts, hold your own mini olympics, the list goes on.

If outside is dry take a trip to the park or a nice walk somewhere quiet. If you have a tent you could arrange a camping trip in the garden with the kids or even let them invite their friends over to have a sleepover. As if it starts to rain you can always abort mission and head back inside.

If you're outside and get caught up in the rain make sure to check out our Children’s Umbrellas we have in stock so you can carry on with your adventures whatever the weather.
