Mens Autumn Wardrobe Essentials
October 10, 2018
Summer’s been and gone and so it’s time to update your wardrobe ready for the new season. Don’t worry, it’s not rocket science. Just a few basic essentials will mean you can be prepared to rock a few different looks without breaking the bank. For men, how about including the following statement pieces:
Working from the ground up, get some boots that are waterproof, durable, and smart. Go for something that won’t have you racing for shelter in the rain, and will still look great if you change your plans in the middle of the day and do something that calls for more of a dressed up look later on. So that means, probably go for leather over suede, and in a colour and style that’s going to work well with your smart casual look.
You can’t go wrong with black denim, but make sure its new and still has a good colour, rather than last season’s washed out jeans. The great thing about black denim is that it has the look and feel of smart black trousers, but also the casual comfortable appeal of denim. That also means you can switch your garments around to fit with a few fresh and different looks without breaking the bank.
It’s a good idea to have an umbrella in your bag, just in case there’s a sudden downpour. Mens' umbrellas can be classy and compact, so you can treat yours like an accessory not just a practicality. Get a long thin one for a more traditional feel, if that fits with your image, or else choose one that folds up small in your laptop bag and can be hidden for work days.
Since this is autumn we’re talking about, you’ll definitely want something that keeps you warm. Wool is a great idea, but you don’t need the fisherman’s sweater kind of jumper unless it’s properly icy. Much better to choose something lightweight and good quality, such as cashmere. Choose a colour that’s going to work with a few other items in your wardrobe.
On a day when the rain is really coming down, you will want a raincoat. But don’t compromise on style. Choose a practical waterproof jacket for the office if you prefer, but a decent trench coat is always going to be a strong choice.
With the right essentials in your wardrobe, autumn isn’t a problem. It’s just another season. The cooler wetter weather doesn’t need to cramp your style.
