Summer Lovin’: The Ultimate Wedding Guest Style Guide for Summer
May 20, 2015
We are SO excited for summer! If the recent weather is anything to go by, it looks like any weddings planned for summer will be bathed in sunshine. With this in mind, we decided to turn our attention to wedding guests and how they can adopt great fashion style without overshadowing the lucky bride. Read on for top tips on style, colour and shape as well as some great brollies to complete the look – and protect from the inevitable British summertime weather!
Summer Colour Trends
One of the best parts of summer is the opportunity to add some splashes of colour to your wardrobe. For weddings this summer there are numerous colour trends and some great ways to wear them. Pink is going to be a big hit, particularly shades of rose, cerise and coral, all of which look perfect with a tan and will often work with summer wedding themes. Our Boutique Vintage Stick Umbrella is a great way to complete the English rose look.
Yellow is also a big summer colour, reminiscent of sunshine and fun and perfect for summer weddings. Pale sorbet yellows can work with both light and dark skin and can be worn in a variety of ways, whether it be as a pair of bright tailored shorts or a pale yellow blazer over a floral dress. White lace is also a perfect summer trend however you’ve got to be careful with white as a wedding because there might be someone else with that colour in mind!
Top Summer Styles
Being a guest at a summer wedding means the chance to buy a great new dress and there are so many style trends to choose from. Maxi dresses are always a good choice for summer weddings but be careful with the length if it’s an outdoor affair or you may tear the hem. If you want to go against the grain a little, try either a plain or patterned jumpsuit and a floppy hat for a retro glam look, or just team it with our Fulton Bloomsbury Circle Line Double Canopy Umbrella which screams vintage style.
Japanese-inspired clothing is a huge trend for the upcoming season; a gorgeous silk fringed kimono is a quirky way to spice up a plain dress or playsuit and creates a fun festival look. Don’t forget Japanese prints also, there is nothing more delicate and pretty than a vintage cherry blossom print. We love the Japanese theme and our Grey Boutique Plain Pagoda Umbrella really adds an authentic charm and the smokey grey colour works great with pastel shades.
Things to Remember
There are a few things all summer wedding guests should remember, particularly as you know there are increased chances of an outdoor celebration. Firstly, shoes should be comfortable and you should be prepared for grass under your feet, so if you must wear heels make sure they are thick to avoid sinking! Secondly, remember to take a bag with a strap as the struggle of holding a clutch while trying to sip champagne and nibble canapes could be unbearable.
Last but by no means least is to be prepared for the weather! We all know how annoying British summertime can be, so unless you’re jetting off to Barbados for your friend’s nuptials, take a brolly with you. We have a huge range of styles and colours, both inexpensive and designer, so any gorgeous summer wedding outfit can be kept dry and made more stylish with the addition of a beautiful brolly or parasol.
Being a wedding guest can almost be as fun as being one of the happy couple, especially if you’ve found yourself a killer on-trend outfit.
