Top Things Every Man Should Keep In His Work Bag

Work bags are so useful. Women have carried bags for centuries, but for many men, a work bag can be a new experience. Here are a few things we’d recommend considering for your work bag, whether you’re a man or a woman. We’ll assume you’re a man who is stocking up on a few essentials.

Chargers for your mobile devices are a must. If you can keep the leads tangle-free and confined in a small zipped up compartment, so much the better. Specially made wallets can also carry sim cards and USB drives safely and tidily out of sight. Get a padded one for extra protection.

Hand sanitising liquid could actually save you a few days of sickness a year. Many people find that just by rubbing a few spots of the liquid into their hands before meals, they keep away the bugs that are often picked up in public places. It can take a while to get into the swing of remembering, but even a tiny bottle of the quick drying gel can go a long way to staving off any germs picked up while riding the tube.

A men’s umbrella is a great addition to your work bag. Choose one that’s telescopic, and therefore small enough to be folded up out of the way until it’s needed. You might forget it's there, but when the rain starts to pour and you’re on your way to a business meeting, you’ll be glad you have it.

Get some low-cost headphones for those moments when you could really do with listening to music. Sometimes changing the mood is only a case of accessing your favourite Spotify playlist and drifting away for a few minutes. A cheap and cheerful headset is one you’ll be able to fold it away easily and it won’t even matter too much if it gets lost.

How about a few mints. Mints are a great idea for freshening your breath after lunch, or just before you go into a key meeting. Or if you’re starting to doze off mid-afternoon, a quick mint can be a helpful and harmless stimulation for the senses. Sugar-free gum also works, and is good for your teeth!

Tissues are a good bet. You never know when you might need them. If that sounds a bit girly for you, man tissues are available.

And if your bag is big enough, we’d recommend a good book. Even if it takes months to get to the end of it, it’s a restful way to unwind and recharge after a hard day at the office.
