How about a UK honeymoon?
October 18, 2016
Whatever time of year your wedding is, you don’t need to go abroad to have a beautiful and memorable honeymoon.
The UK is full of incredible scenery and breathtaking views, as well as friendly places to have afternoon tea and historical settings that will make for great photographs.
Scotland is an obvious choice. Snowy mountains, and peaceful lochs, rich heathers and vibrant ferns, plus loads of choices for places to stay to meet all budgets. Just wrap up warm in the colder months and bring the basics along with you - scarves, hats, umbrellas, and of course some decent walking shoes so that you don’t get blisters.
If you love water, then what about the Lake District in Cumbria? There are scenic roads that will make you and your bride or groom feel like a film star to drive through, and places to honeymoon that won’t break the bank. You could even hire a soft-topped car to add to the occasion. Same rules apply about wet weather clothes, because when it rains here you’ll really wish you had an umbrella. But when the sun comes out, the shades of green are truly stunning.
Devon, with its famous cream teas and ice-cream, has plenty of wedding and honeymoon destinations. The coastal and inland areas provide a wide range of options for outdoor pursuits, and you can enjoy sunning yourself by the cliffs, by the river, on the beach. Or how about a spot of surfing in Cornwall.
Another perfect wedding choice is Bristol and Bath for a friendly and historic city break. Sights like the Clifton Suspension Bridge, or the historic Bath Spa are always worth a visit, whatever the weather. And there’s no shortage of places to dine out in style.
A wedding or honeymoon in Wales gives you coastal destinations as well as lakes and mountains. Whether you’re keen walkers or you prefer a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive, whether you want to try your hand at a spot of sea fishing, or go climbing in Snowdonia, it's all there. If all else fails, there’s retail therapy of course, with Cardiff’s vibrant shopping area.
With so many UK honeymoon choices on offer, you’ll wonder why people go abroad.
