Jewellery? Flowers? Umbrella? Must-have Wedding Dress Accessories
November 17, 2017
You’ve got the wedding dress at last. That’s a major step in your wedding preparation. If you're lucky enough still to have time to spare, now is the moment to consider what accessories you‘d like to enhance your epic look on your wedding day.
It’s up to you, whether you wear a veil, fresh flowers in your hair, or maybe a tiara, and whether you buy or hire them for the day. One thing to bear in mind is that a beautiful accessory that’s made to last can turn into a family heirloom for the future.
So if you’d like to be that grandmother who handed something special down the family line, now would be the perfect time to choose what that would be.
If you’re going to wear your hair up on the big day, consider whether drop earrings might make the statement you’re looking for. Or you could go for some beautiful diamond studs that create a subtle sparkle. If you’re a fan of drama, bigger statement earrings could be just the thing. Just be careful not to overdo it with earrings that compete with other jewellery pieces you wear on the day.
Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue is a saying you might want to refer to, to guide your choice of wedding accessories. If your friends and family have anything special to borrow that's a good place to start. It could be a brooch that’s hidden in your clothing, or even a golden sovereign hidden away in a secret pocket or purse.
A parasol or wedding umbrella can make a beautiful accessory, just for the look, or perhaps to double as a practical way to guard against the sun or rain. You could have a faux fur shawl for a winter wedding, just in case it gets chilly while you’re waiting for the photos.
Remember that you could give your bridesmaids similar accessories. It would make a great photo if you all had matching wedding umbrellas.
Don’t stress over accessories, but the odd touch of flash and sparkle can make all the difference and provide extra special memories of precious pieces you’ll want to keep to remember the day.
Basically, don’t overdo it with accessories and stick with your overall colour theme - you’ll look amazing!
