The big wedding trends for 2016
January 27, 2016
A survey of 1,000 couples set to marry in 2016, by Heaton House Farm wedding venue, has revealed that 2016 will be the year of pets being ring bearers, meat wedding cakes, live action food stations, street food stands and the year that the GoPro starts to film the wedding POV style.
This year, 12 per cent of brides and grooms-to-be plan to give the job of ring bearer to their pet, the survey says, so expect to see plenty of pooches walking down the aisle. This could be tricky for some wedding parties as Heaton House Farm marketing manager Sarah Heath explains:
“Although some venues don’t permit animals inside the venue, they are happy to allow them within the grounds, which could mean those having an outdoor reception are able to facilitate having a pet ring bearer.”
In cake news, 17 per cent are planning to have a naked wedding cake, while 21 per cent of couples will offer guests bite-sized treats in the form of mini cakes, macaron tiers and profiterole stacks.
Speaking of food, live action food theatre such as oyster shucking and teppanyaki bars where guests see the food prepared in front of them is going to be popular with 32 per cent of couples saying they were considering some sort of live action element.
2016 will see the continued rise of the food truck, with 41 per cent of weddings featuring some sort of surprise ice cream truck, fish and chip vans and American style burger vans.
With all aspects of life getting the POV treatment, weddings will be added to the list this year with GoPro footage and temporary video booths becoming a new and exciting way to uniquely capture the special day, with one in three couples say they’ll be using a GoPro to capture their big day.
